The work

About our pool plastering

Pool plastering is the resurfacing of a worn pool interior. You call when the surface feels rough underfoot, stains won't scrub out, or the color has faded unevenly. The old plaster has reached the end of its life, and a fresh coat is the standard fix to restore a smooth, watertight finish that is comfortable to swim against.

We drain the pool and pressure wash the old surface to remove algae and debris. Loose or delaminated plaster is chipped off with a chipping hammer. A bonding coat is applied to the bare gunite or shotcrete, then the new plaster—a mix of white Portland cement, marble aggregate, and water—is hand-troweled onto the walls and floor in a continuous application.

Job cost varies with pool size, shape, and the condition of the old surface. Access for the chipping crew and the mixer truck matters: tight backyards or long hose runs add setup time. The chosen finish—standard white, colored, or blended with quartz—changes material cost. Weather affects curing: hot, dry wind speeds evaporation and requires extra care. Each factor shifts the labor and material needed.

On the day, we lay down plywood or tarps to protect your deck and coping. The crew mixes and applies the plaster, then cleans tools and hauls away old debris. Before we arrive, you should clear the pool area of furniture and potted plants. After filling, we show you how to brush the new surface daily and balance the water chemistry during the 28-day cure.

Hand-troweled finish

Our crew applies the plaster by hand with steel trowels, working the surface to a dense, smooth finish that machine application cannot match.

Cure-time brushing

New plaster must be brushed daily to knock off loose cement dust. Skipping this step can leave a rough, chalky surface that stains easily.

How the job runs

Our 4-step pool plastering process

01

Drain and prep

We drain the pool, pressure wash the old surface, and chip away any loose or delaminated plaster to create a clean bond.

02

Bond coat

A thin bonding coat is troweled onto the bare gunite to help the new plaster adhere uniformly and prevent delamination.

03

Plaster application

The crew mixes cement, marble aggregate, and water on site, then hand-trowels the plaster onto the walls and floor in one continuous layer.

04

Fill and cure

We refill the pool immediately and start the 28-day cure. We show you how to brush daily and adjust water chemistry to protect the finish.

The difference

Why IPP - Invictus Pool Plastering for pool plastering

  • Smooth surface

A properly troweled plaster finish feels smooth underfoot and resists algae growth. Rough spots collect dirt and make the pool harder to clean.

  • Long bond life

Good surface prep and a bonding coat prevent the new plaster from popping loose. A delaminated patch is expensive to repair and can ruin the look.

  • Even color

Consistent mixing and hand application avoid light and dark patches. Streaky plaster looks old before it is cured and is nearly impossible to fix.
