Pool Plastering

Pool plastering is the resurfacing of a worn pool interior. You call when the surface feels rough underfoot, stains won't scrub out, or the color has faded unevenly. The old plaster has reached the end of its life, and a fresh coat is the standard fix to restore a smooth, watertight finish that is comfortable to swim against.

We drain the pool and pressure wash the old surface to remove algae and debris. Loose or delaminated plaster is chipped off with a chipping hammer. A bonding coat is applied to the bare gunite or shotcrete, then the new plaster—a mix of white Portland cement, marble aggregate, and water—is hand-troweled onto the walls and floor in a continuous application.

Job cost varies with pool size, shape, and the condition of the old surface. Access for the chipping crew and the mixer truck matters: tight backyards or long hose runs add setup time. The chosen finish—standard white, colored, or blended with quartz—changes material cost. Weather affects curing: hot, dry wind speeds evaporation and requires extra care. Each factor shifts the labor and material needed.

On the day, we lay down plywood or tarps to protect your deck and coping. The crew mixes and applies the plaster, then cleans tools and hauls away old debris. Before we arrive, you should clear the pool area of furniture and potted plants. After filling, we show you how to brush the new surface daily and balance the water chemistry during the 28-day cure.
